un.procedure are a Birmingham/Berlin based experimental-electronic outfit, comprising synths (Piera Onacko, UK), drums + electronics (Nathan England-Jones, UK) and alto-saxophone (Cassie Kinoshi, DE). Since forming in 2021, un.procedure have established, developed and continue to recontextualise their curious amalgam of musical influences, first emerging in physical form as an EP release in 2022.

The band’s sound flies anywhere between exploratory psychedelic textures, doomy, guttural grooves and the occasional spatters of light. Within a bed of electronic-led soundscapes and the dark drone of processed saxophone, industrial beats thrum and pulse, calling to mind elements of 70s sci-fi cinema, kosmische Musik and the avant-garde jazz movement of the late 60s. Cemented by a backdrop of transportive collage projections created and controlled by visual artist Guri Bosh, their immersive live set has been described by The Arts Desk as a “narcotic and dystopian journey”.

un.procedure have gained support from leftfield music stalwarts Stuart Maconie and Max Reinhardt, both performing live on Soho Radio and curating a playlist for BBC 6 Music’s flagship experimental show Freak Zone. Other recent activity has included the development of an audiovisual installation, Themory, which premiered at Manchester Jazz Festival and shows across Europe, including Fusion Festival, Supersonic Festival, Jazz Cafe and Radialsystem, Berlin. More recently, the band were commissioned to write for an extended ensemble as part of Cheltenham Jazz Festival, un.procedure plus, developed their second installation for the opening night of Flatpack Film Festival and are putting the finishing touches on their debut album, set for release in Spring 2026.
